“There was a
little baby boy born to a Hebrew family.
They were able to hide him until he was three months old. His mother made a basket out of reeds and
placed it in the river where everyone bathed.
The baby was found by a princess.
The baby’s sister asked the princess if she wanted him to find a woman
to nurse the baby. She did and the
sister got her mother so the mother was able to keep him for a while
longer. The mother brought him back to
the princess and he became her son. She
named him Moses.”

works in marvelous ways. Every one of
his children are special to him. Can you
think of a time when events have come together that only God could have made
happen? Prayer is our constant communication with God. He is always with us.
Lesson 2: Exodus 2:11, 23-25; 3:1-11, 14b
“One day, many years later when Moses had grown up and
become a man, he went out to visit his fellow Hebrews and saw the terrible
conditions they were under. Several years
later the king of
God called to Moses through a burning bush. The Lord told him, ’I have seen the deep

This was not an easy task to
accomplish. First Moses had to be convinced, by God, that he was the one to go
to go to Pharaoh and tell him to let God’s people go. God sent his brother Aaron with him.
God sent the following ten
plagues to the Egyptians before Pharaoh finally let the people go.

been in a situation where you have felt very strongly that you could not do

Summary: God
has a way of getting our attention. He

to what God’s will is for our life and obey the first time.

The next complaint from the people was lack of meat and
bread. The Lord told Moses, ‘Look, I’m going
to rain down food from heaven for them. Everyone can go out each day and gather
as much food as he needs.’ The Lord
provided meat in the evening and bread in the morning. Jehovah has said for everyone to gather as

Have a discussion
on the consequences of following rules and not following rules (good and the
bad).
Summary: For
everything we do there is a consequence.
Good or bad. Think of some of the
things you have done and what the consequences were.
Lesson 5: Exodus: 32:1-16, 19; 33:3; 34:1, 5-8
“When Moses didn’t come back down the
mountain right away, the people went to Aaron.
‘Look’, they said, ‘make us a god to lead us, for this fellow Moses who
brought us here from
‘Give me your gold earrings,’ Aaron replied. So they all did, men and women, boys and
girls. Aaron melted the gold, then

When Aaron saw how happy the people were about it, he
built an altar before the calf and announced, ‘Tomorrow there will be a feast
to Jehovah.’
So they were up early the next morning and began offering
burnt offerings and peace offerings to the calf-idol; afterwards they sat down
to feast and drink at a wild party. Then the Lord told Moses, ‘Quick! Go down,
for your people that you brought from
Then the Lord said, ‘I have seen what a stubborn,
rebellious lot these people are. Now let
me alone and my anger shall blaze out against them and destroy them all; and I
will make you, Moses, into a great nation instead of them.’
Moses begged God not to do it. So the Lord changed his mind and spared them.
Then Moses went down the mountain, holding in his
hands the Ten Commandments written on both sides of two stones tablets. (God himself had written the commandments on
the tablets.)
When Moses saw the calf and the dancing, and in
terrible anger he threw the tablets to the ground and they lay broken at the
foot of the mountain. The Lord’s anger was upon the people. He would not travel among them for they were
a stubborn, unruly people, and He would be tempted to destroy them along the
way.
Moses asked to see God again. The Lord told Moses, ‘Prepare two stone
tablets like the first ones and I will write upon them the same commands that
were on the tablets you broke.’ So Moses
did as he was told.
Then the Lord descended in the form of a pillar of
cloud and stood there with him, and passed in front of him and announced the
meaning of his name. ‘I am Jehovah, the
merciful and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in steadfast love and
truth. I, Jehovah, show this steadfast
love to many thousands by forgiving their sins.’
Moses fell down before the Lord and
worshipped him.

wanted to destroy all of them)
4.

the two stone tables and broke them)
5.
What do you think
when God left his people and wouldn’t lead them any longer? (Answers will vary)
6.
What did Moses
ask of God again? (Moses asked to see
God again)
7.

response? (God agreed. He told Moses to bring two tablets with him. God wrote

8.
Even if you have
sinned, can you go to God in prayer and be forgiven? (We have a loving and
merciful God. We can always go to God
and ask for forgiveness)
9.
How do you know
this?
Summary: Remember
every action of ours has a consequence. God will continue to forgive us as we
ask forgiveness with humble hearts. Pray for God’s guidance as we make our
daily choices.
